 No idling / power down

Opener

Freeman is committed to a goal of zero waste. Waste can be anything - resources, energy, time, and money - and there are steps that you can take to help this event reduct waste and be more sustainable.

Key points

  • Freeman is committed to saving energy and fuel, and to improving the quality of air around us.

  • If you are driving a forklift, a truck, or any other kind of vehicle, Freeman's Power Down policy requires you to turn off your engine if you are idling for more than five minutes.

  • You should also be aware of local laws and facility requirements around idling.

  • This not only saves fuel but it improves the quality of the air that you and your coworkers breathe.

  • Freeman's Power Down program also asks that you power down any electrical equipment when you are done using it and especially overnight.

  • Be aware of any items, such as chargers, that continue to draw power whenever they are plugged in. These can be shut down completely by turning off the power strip that they're plugged into, or by unplugging them completely.

Wrap up

We are constantly innovating to increase the environmental friendliness of the events we work on, and incorporating these best practices in our standard operating procedures to enhance sustainability at every event.
